What is Forex Trading?

Forex trading, also known as foreign exchange trading or currency trading, is the buying and selling of currencies on the foreign exchange market with the aim of making a profit. The foreign exchange market is the largest financial market in the world, with trillions of dollars traded daily.

This involves buying one currency while simultaneously selling another. The objective is to profit from the changes in the exchange rates between the two currencies. For example, if you believe that the value of the euro will rise against the US dollar, you would buy euros and sell US dollars. If your prediction is correct and the euro does rise in value, you can sell the euros back for a profit.

Trading is typically done through a broker, who provides a platform for traders to buy and sell currencies called the MT4 platform. The market operates 24 hours a day, five days a week, allowing traders to participate from anywhere in the world at any time. While forex trading can be highly profitable, it is also associated with risks and requires a good understanding of the market and its dynamics, this is where CTFX School Of Trading – Forex Classes & Coaching Programme – Cape Town, South Africa comes in, to simplify the trading process for you

How does Forex Trading work step by step?

Step 1: Research and select a renowned FSCA Licenced and approved Forex Trading Broker.

Step 2: Once you have found a broker you will have to follow the steps to set up your Forex Trading account

Step 3: Once you have followed the verification process (This usually involves emailing your chosen broker proof of your identity & proof of bank account)

Step 4: Fund your Forex Trading account, you will be sent an email with login details to your backoffice account to the Forex Broker, here you are able to link up your bank account to the broker platform and fund your account using either your credit or debit card.

Step 5: Time to find some trading opportunities:  Assuming you’ve done and completed a forex trading course and gone through the coaching process, you will then know how to find and execute some profitable trades.

Step 6: Deciding on position size for your trade: It’s important to take trading position sizes based on a percentage of your initial capital deposit or trading investment, thus ensuring you do not over leverage your trading sizes leading to potential losses should your trade go against you.

Step 7: Monitor and manage your trading positions: Once you in a trade, it is equally important to be able to manage your trade accordingly, these include placing stop losses and potential profit targets, all of these are covered in the CTX Forex Trading Course and Classes.

Step 8: Withdrawing Trading profits: Once you have reached your trading targets either for the day or for the week, you will then want to withdraw your profits, this is achieved by following the same process you you followed to deposit from your bank account, into your trading account.

Where Can i read up more of the basics of Forex Trading

There are many resources online about Forex Trading on the internet, that will give a newbie Trader, a fair amount of knowledge to trading the forex market and how to approach trading, although, one website in particular will give you a good starting point in your trading journey, but keep in mind that there is a big difference in reading materials and learning from an experienced trader who has already been through the challenges of learning the skill and therefore able to show you what to look for and what to avoid.

Are forex trading bots profitable?

The question of whether forex trading robots are profitable depends on various factors. But the bottom lines is that they are simply not consistent.

Forex trading robots can yield some decent profits in a trending market, which is mostly obvious market moves, if you know how to read a forex trading chart and you have the skillset, then your knowledge will produce higher profit returns over a trading robot, For Egsample: you might make some profits on a good upward trending day on the charts, but it could just take one fundamental move or news release in the opposite direction which could potentially wipe out you entire profits for the day.

Learning the skill of trading and being able to predict potential market moves with at least 60-70% accuracy, can prevent you from major losses, keeping you in control of your trading investment, therefore, with that knowledge and future experience gained, you will be able see higher profit returns with confidence and consistency.

The CTFX Forex Trading Course in Cape Town, covers all the topics and aspects of what you need to know on how to spot profitable moves daily in the market, the coaching provided will enforce further habbits towards consistent trading profits.

Is Forex trading like gambling?
There has always been this debate whether Forex Trading is the same as gambling.

So lets break it down to give you an idea of the key differences,

Forex trading involves buying and selling currencies with the aim of making a profit from fluctuations in exchange rates. It is based on analysis, strategy, and understanding of economic factors influencing currency movements. Traders use various tools, including technical and fundamental analysis, to make informed decisions.

On the other hand, gambling involves placing bets on uncertain outcomes, often without any analysis or strategy. It relies heavily on chance and luck rather than skill or knowledge. In gambling, the odds are typically stacked against the player, and outcomes are determined by random events.

The key difference between forex trading and gambling lies in the level of control and knowledge involved.

Forex trading requires understanding of market dynamics, risk management, and disciplined execution of strategies. Successful traders employ risk management techniques to mitigate losses and maximize profits. In contrast, gambling is characterized by speculative bets with no underlying analysis or rationale.

While both activities involve financial risk, forex trading can be approached as a legitimate investment strategy when conducted responsibly with proper knowledge and discipline. Gambling, on the other hand, tends to be more impulsive and can lead to significant financial losses without any real chance of consistent profit.

What does "Spread" mean in Trading

In forex trading, the “spread” refers to the difference between the buying price (Bid) and the selling price (Ask) of a currency pair. It’s essentially the cost of trading that the forex broker charges for providing their services.

Why is Spread important in trading?

Cost Reduction: Low spreads can help traders to reduce their trading costs. Each time a trade is executed, the trader has to overcome the spread cost to get into a profitable position. The lower the spread, the less the price needs to move in the trader’s favour before they start to make a profit, and the less the price can move against the trader before they start to incur a loss.

Higher Frequency Trading: Traders, especially those using high-frequency trading strategies like scalping and day trading, must enter and exit the markets frequently. Lower spreads mean they pay less to execute these trades.

Increased Potential Profits: When the spread is lower, the distance to a profitable trade decreases. This can potentially increase a trader’s profitability, especially in volatile markets.

All this and more is covered in the comprehensive & easy to understand CTFX Forex Trading course

Can I Trade Forex as a career?
